White Crosses

White Crosses

Bones of misfortune, sun-bleached white
Stark standing, forgotten memorials
Surrounded by well-meaning corpses

Erected in neglected grief
In ditches
On trunks
Insisting on being noticed
Along the shoulders of a thousand yesterdays

Events tragic
Fitting
Inevitable

Unchangeable

Drawing eyes from what is unseen
Around the corner
Of a single tomorrow
